Mary Anne Tsakeres, FNP

I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee where as a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a nurse. My greatest joy was found when helping others. While in high school, I began to follow that dream by working as an aide in a nursing home. After graduation from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I worked for several years in a Pediatric ICU and as an Emergency Room nurse. As my husband's career relocated us several times while raising our three children, my nursing career continued to evolve working in schools, community health, doctor's offices and hospital administration. When our children began their college educations, I had the time and opportunity to earn my Master's in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Illinois, Chicago. It was during that time that I was introduced to the value of nutrition as an alternative medicine option. Until that time, the only nutritional guidance I had received was through occasional chiropractic care that our family had received and one course in college.

In 2003, I was blessed to be able to move back to Knoxville to be close to my family again. I began working as a family nurse practitioner with a specialty medical practice and enjoyed the opportunity to continue to help many sick people needing good medical care. In spite of being part of this excellent practice, I knew there was so much more to the underlying illness. Too many people were taking too many medications and not getting well or feeling good. About that same time, I began suffering from my own diminishing health that was looking like symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Unwilling to follow the traditional medicine path, I started my own journey to discover the power of nutrition and the important role it could play in helping people take back their health without the side effects of many medications. That journey led me to discover that mercury and aluminum toxicity was causing most of my symptoms. Through the use of whole food nutritional supplementation and clearing my diet of unhealthy food products, my body was able to detoxify the mercury and aluminum and restore itself back to health. I no longer experienced numbness, fatigue, hot flashes, disturbed sleep, loss of balance, mental fog and constant weight gain (in spite of all dieting efforts). Best of all, my energy levels stayed consistently high.

My own personal health journey made me a believer. I quickly embarked upon obtaining certification in Advanced Clinical Training to bring Nutrition Response Testing SM  and designed clinical nutrition into my practice. Nutritional Wellness Initiative is the best effort of my childhood dream to help people. We have seen lives transformed as good food choices and whole food nutritional supplements allow bodies to heal themselves. We have seen people lose chronic migraine headaches, back aches, arthritic pain, symptoms of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, foggy memories, skin issues, chronic coughs, high cholesterol, and many other health challenges through the designed clinical nutrition their body needs as revealed through Nutritional Response Testing SM . These stories of renewed health and energy are the joy of practicing nutritional health.
